I just got back into the office today from a most excellent adventure to the great Northwest with my old man and my brother. I've never been out that way, and my people had to be in Seattle for a dental class so we made the most out of our trip by getting up to the area a few days early for some serious exploratory efforts. Throughout the course of our trip we rode cruiser bikes, mountain bikes, a most scenic train to Whistler, flew on a tiny float plane, rented a pimp minivan, took said pimp minivan on several cross-island ferries, sea kayaked, took taxis, buses, space needles, and even got to surf the frigid waters of Westport, Washington.
During the trip my dad and brother were trying to get their heads around this whole business blogging thing. Both great dentists, they aren't too concerned with marketing, they just do teeth. But they were genuinely interested in the idea of getting found online. It was my pleasure to explain to them the power of blogging. Pretty simple: if you write about what you do, people who are looking for that thing you do, will find you. Generating content that matches what your prospects are looking for will get you found in organic search by potential patients.
Starting a business blog is something they are now seriously considering. The idea often sells itself. It is one of the most efficient vehicles to getting your company discovered online, all the while allowing your true personality to shine, giving a human touch to your business or organization.

These are my favorite kind of stories. Even people who are not up on all the Web 2.0 jargon can understand the concept of telling stories.... and getting those stories to as many people as possible. Nice tale, Manduski.
