I'm going to let this image sink in for a few minutes.....

Ok, so what are you looking at? As you know, we at Compendium Blogware get to use our own tool. We are engaged in marketing and demand generation too after all.
I've been pushing for a couple of years for two things when it comes to business blogging: widespread employee blogging and measuring ROI based on search traffic.
As you look a this chart I'll explain the axis: the bottom is the number of posts in a month. The left side is unique organic search traffic (individuals who clicked on a blog link as a result of a targeted keyword search)
The size of the circle represent the number of Keyword targeted "Compended" Blogs.
So the big story of this graph is simple. Between the Third Quarter and Fourth Quarter of 2008 we increased the total number of posts from our employees by 100%. (about 250 posts to 500+ posts) We increased the number of keyword blogs by 50%. We increased our organic traffic by 227%!
Your Strategy has to focus on the ROI of traffic...not RSS, not comments, but actual traffic. No matter what your platform, the best value of a Business Blog strategy is to introduce and build crediblity with new relationships. Blogging is an acquistion strategy
