Jenifer Tidwell is a well-known voice in the user interface design community. In fact, she wrote the book on the subject. She maintains a very helpful reference of "design patterns" (really just an abbreviated version of the patterns she describes in her book) to help folks solve UI problems. It's a great list, and if you ever need to create a new UI for a website or an application, take a look at her list before you try to invent some new UI technique. There's a good chance that she'll describe something that will fit the bill. If not, it's still time well spent because you'll come away with lots of ideas of what might work and what probably won't in your quest to create a predictable, usable interface.Jenifer Tidwell's Designing Interfaces: Patterns for Effective Interaction Design: http://designinginterfaces.
