Publish Your Blog on Your Website

Friday, February 20, 2009 by Douglas Karr
I've shared other posts on my blog here about aggregating your business blog content on your corporate website. Promoting your corporate blog on your website can not just provide a human touch for your visitors - it can also provide some search engine goodness for your corporate site.

I noticed some of our clients utilized Coldfusion, so here's an updated list of aggregators. Grab a developer and get them to integrate your feed with your website today!
Don't utilize a JavaScript or Flash aggregator.  You won't get any benefits of Search Engines since those both load client-side and the Search Engines won't see the content.

By publishing your blog's RSS feed on your website, the search engine will constantly re-index your website and see changes occurring.  That means they'll index your site often, which can help your overall site with search engine placement, not just your blog.

You can see this on Compendium Blogware's own home page, where we display our latest posts from our Uber blog using an aggregator.  In case you're curious, we utilize the RSS 2.0 standard.

How about a solid cross-browser Javascript aggregator? I found some clunky options about 6 months ago.

Hi Matt, The problem with a Javascript aggregator is that the script is executed client-side. In other words, when the search bot comes to crawl your site, there is no content there for the bot to see. By utilizing a server-side script, your page will be indexed for the content that's being aggregated, and backlinks to your blog are utilized.
