We've been working on a great project at Compendium the last couple weeks. Compendium recently launched its Application Programming Interface (API) and we've been eager to show it off! Our first implementation is the perfect marketing strategy!
Carhartt, the leading provider of high-quality working clothes, flame resistant clothing and cold weather clothing has posted a site utilizing Compendium's API so customers can post their Tough Jobs.
The blog has all of the bells and whistles:
- A submission page that submits a post directly to an administrator for approval via the API. If the administrator declines the approval, the post is then routed to an internal person to make changes.
- A flash carousel player that is dynamically loaded from the site's RSS feed. Kudos to the team at 4 Dogs Design for the graphics and Flash work on this. Because of cross-domain issues, this was especially challenging but it works great!
- Dynamic elements that only load based on the blog's topic.
- A beautiful theme that matches Carhartt's corporate brand, again, assistance provided by 4 Dogs Design on that.
Compendium's theming system is fantastic and allows for any customization. Carhartt's implementation is a perfect example. Carhartt didn't have time to develop the solution nor to deploy their theme - so Compendium stepped up to the plate with some partners and knocked it out of the park.
Best of all, Carhartt is using the smartest corporate blogging strategies there is - providing a means for their own customers to market the Carhartt brand!
Businesses who blog often say they don't have time... with a user-generated blog like Tough Jobs, there's no excuse!
