Today in the office Marty presented a webinar to our current clients and others interested in compendium's software. This was my first experience attending a webinar and I didn’t know exactly what to expect. Is he just going to run through a slide show? Is this an interactive experience? What can people gain from attending such an event? Fortunately I learned the answers to all my questions today.

So a webinar is basically a live information feed which is presented to the audience via their computer and phone. While sitting at their own desk the participant simply logs on to the site where the webinar is taking place and is automatically seeing the presenter’s computer. Along with this they can also join into a conference call where they are able to hear the presenter’s presentation and easily respond to questions, ask for further information, or give their own feedback.

While the webinar is taking place is there also an area where participants can “chat” (this was where I took part in the session). Participants who had trouble logging in, needed to ask questions, or give their opinion could simply type it up in this area. It was my job to attend to these request.

It was fun to be a part of something on the front end of our business and I learned a lot. Webinars are such a fantastic tool to bring together your clients to a place which is convenient to them (sitting at their own desk while listening on their own phone).
