Speaking of baseball, an interesting read is Michael Lewis' "Moneyball," a story that follows the 2002 Oakland A's to the ALCS, despite having the second-lowest payroll in all of major league baseball. How'd they do it? By looking at stats and performances that no other major league team did. If larger corporations could do this, and hire smart people and find them a role, rather than settling on someone to fill pre-defined expectations, the larger corporations could innovate too.
