What does TJ Maxx/HomeGoods have to blog about?

Thursday, January 29, 2009 by Megan Glover

A lot actually... check out their corporate blog.

As a frequent and happy customer of TJ Maxx and their home store division HomeGoods, I was tickled to find their corporate blogs. I'm notorious for spending hours just wandering the aisles of TJ Maxx and HomeGoods purchasing things I absolutely don't need... but did you see that retail price!?! What a steal!

This is a great example of a brick and mortar retail store allocating marketing dollars online and winning and sustaining customers.

Now, my only critique of their blogs... what exactly do you want me to do? Just because your a brick and mortar store doesn't mean you can't do things to entice my business. For instance:

1. Offer a coupon exclusive to the blogs.

2. Make the email sign up more prominent.

3. Display some featured designers/"just in products" I have to buy Today!

At the end of the day, your blogs should have a clear purpose to: generate demand, and convert blog visitors into customers. Otherwise how do you justify the marketing dollars your spending.

I can't wait to go to HomeGoods now... if only I had a coupon!
