Connecting The Dots Through Blogs

Thursday, December 6, 2007 by Jenni Edwards

This was originally going to be two posts...one about a presentation I saw today by blog and social media consultant (his words) Josh Hallett and the other post about the newly formed "Blog Council" that Brennan Knotts, a friend over at IETV, alerted me to this morning. However, I was able to connect that Josh Hallett is friends with the co-founder of The Blog Council and recently presented to this council...all through the power of blogs. Now Josh's blog is all about him...more or less the idea of "Me, Inc." and him out there being a thought leader on social media with the end goal of people hiring him as a consultant or public speaker...which he has been successful at if you check out his client list.

So in sum, what Josh is doing isn't "corporate blogging" in its true sense ---- as it is really just him...promoting himself. However, a point is still proven by this...his blog allowed me to connect the dots that not only is Josh a good speaker (and found a way to talk about social media, blogging and the importance to a crowd filled with mostly hotel and restaurant proprietors); but he is a force among corporate blogging and the formation of The Blog Council proves that large corporations are taking note and become very strategic about their blogging practices...I wonder if it is because blogs are a great way to win optimize for search, communicate and engage with potential & current clients and convert customers with clear calls to action? And imagine what your blog could do to help your clients connect the dots...and realize that you are the best solution to their problem.
