What's the right strategy for Grocery Blogging?

Monday, February 16, 2009 by Chris Baggott
So here at Compendium Blogware we have several packaged goods and food companies who's products are sold in Grocery Stores.   As I think about Grocery Blogging, I realize the same business blog strategy works for products or the retailer themselves.   People search on problems, it's up to the blogger to maximize the SEO benefits of their blogs by talking about solutions.

It doesn't matter if you are the biggest brand or retailer in the world, or a tiny Korean Grocer in St. Louis...the same marketing strategy applies.   As we have discussed in this blog and a whitepaper on local search: Local search is the fastest growing segment of search marketing.   People who are looking for solutions want to find them locally.

Suppose I'm looking to impress a new friend with Baechu Gook?  Of course I'm going to go onlne for the recipie and be looking to find out where I can source the daenjang and napa cabbage I need, close to where I live.

If that grocer was blogging, I'd find them on my search and they would get my business.   Guess what?  The same is true if I was searching for a pasta recipe (like nearly a million people do every month)

The point here is that people are looking for help...that's why they are searching.   You help them, you get their business.   Businesses blog to show expertese.   Blog for search.
