What should you blog about?

Friday, February 13, 2009 by Chris Baggott

Picking things to blog about is as easy as understanding your keywords.   Think about it.   Whats so great about keyword research is it's basically telling you exactly what your customers or potential customers want to find.   "Convection toaster oven"   is a pretty clear guideline right?   200,000 people a month want to find content about convection toaster ovens.

If you happen to be in this business, does it make sense to talk about your cat or some funny incidence in the office?  Corporate Blogging needs to be a search strategy first and foremost.  Very few people care about the thought leadership around the macroeconmic landscape of toaster retail.   40,500 people care about info on a kitchenaid toaster.

To your point on the value of keyword research, if a company can create a compelling story around a toaster, for example, and still use keywords to do so, that post has twice as much conversion power.
