What can the Irish teach American Business Bloggers?

Wednesday, April 8, 2009 by Chris Baggott
Irish study on Business Blog and the search benefitsWell according to a new report about to be released by Irish Internet Association (IIA), we can learn alot about successful Corporate Blogging strategy from Irish businesses.

According to the research, 39% of business bloggers post several times a week, and that 50% spend up to four hours each week blogging. How can Irish businesspeople justify this investment in time?

Here are the benefits they measure:
  1. a source for sales leads.
  2. improve a company’s ranking in Google.
  3. show customers that they are experts in their sector.
  4. Just under 50% indicated that unique visitors were their preferred measurement of success.

The key question of the survey: "Who is the Target Audience For Your Business Blogs?"  89% answered "Potential Customers".  In a Forrester survey recently, U.S. marketers gave "Brand Awareness" as their number one answer....

This is the key that so many U.S. marketers don't yet appreciate.   People are less interested in Brand, and more interested in solutions to their problems.   They describe those problems to the search engines.....   Additionally, we have many ways to engage existing relationships.  We have very few ways to introduce ourselves to what the Irish so eloquently call "Potential Customers".  Search is the path that your prospect follow.   Blogging is the key for business when it comes to inbound marketing.
