Today I want to explain the difference between a sales link and an SEO link.
Most of us probably understand by now that it is usually much more desirable to use anchor text as a link vs. the seemingly old fashioned click here type link.
Traditionally, Anchor Text has been used in blogging because when a keyword phrase is highlighted as a relevant link to another landing page, the assumption is that the linking increases that keywords relevance. So in general, Anchor Text was preferable to "click here" when it comes to search engine optimization....and of course SEO is a major goal of business or Corporate blogging.
But unlike journalism, business blogs have other objectives besides search don't they? As Organizational Bloggers, we have to remember that some of the 100 year old Direct Marketing Tactics still make sense. As a business, we need a call to action....and do you know what? Even in a new media like blogging...age old tactics work. What do you want your visitors to do? TELL THEM!

Sometimes you just can't be ambiguous about the direction you want people to go.
Of course, like all things web....everything is measurable. Test Test Test.
