Small Business adds Blogging to marketing mix

Thursday, January 8, 2009 by Chris Baggott

Among America's small businesses, 26% plan to spend more on advertising - especially online and direct - and another 60% plan to spend about the same as in 2008, according to a report from Ad-ology Research.

This graph is telling as it relates to small business marketing plans.  Clearly a strategy that allows business to Blog for SEO is going to address the top two items.   Business blogging is really inexpensive so most companies save money when they move from traditional marketing (yellow pages, mailers) to business blogging.   I also like creating new business blog(s) because that is where the prospects are located....they are online.

For almost every business, your customers are online and they are searching. Another recent report in AdAge said 52% of 70-somethings reported using a search engine in the past week, compared to 77% of 18-34 year-olds.  When half of all people in there 70s are searching I think everyone can agree that it's pretty imbeded in our society.

Cheaper and closer to where your prospects are: Two great reasons blog for business.

Interesting study, good work Ad-ology.
