MicroSegments and why you need everyone in your business blogging

Friday, September 21, 2007 by Chris Baggott
I just saw a review of the new book MicroTrends by Mark Penn (the guy who first spotted Soccer Moms)

The key point I want to harp on here is that the country is becoming more and moreMicroTrends image from Amazon.com fragmented into smaller and smaller segments. This is not necessarily a bad thing, but it does a lot to explain the rise in Business Blogging and other adoptions of SocialMicroTrends clipped from Amazon.com Networking by organizations.

People want to affiliate with people who are like themselves. MicroTrends breaks down society into 75 reasonable categories ranging from Left-handers, to successful women who stay single to Pet Parents and a bunch of others.

My point is that YOU have people like this in your organization too. Give them a voice. Let them participate in your Corporate Blogs, Your odds of your customers of prospects finding someone like themselves increases dramatically...as will your overall business success.

And of course easy to use blogging tools designed specifically for business can help facilitate all of this.
