Businss Blog webinar questions continued: #5

Q: Kathryn asked:  Do you treat your blogs as an entirely separate web site from your main site, or is it essentially a part o fyour main site?

This question gets to the fundimental issues related to search engine marketing and how broken the entire concept of a website really is in today's environment.

Website is a legacy concept from the paper-based marketing era.   Like a Magazine or a Brochure...think: Cover, Table of Contents, pages....  basically forcing people to follow a set path to get to answers and information.

Search is destroying that model.   Because people are less likely to directly navigate to your site, they are now more inclined to simply search using the keyword phrase that best describes what they are looking for.   Where the world is going and why business blogging should be on the top of your radar.

Think of your blogs as organic landing pages...the more the better.  Then you have to think about what you want that traffic to do.  Do you need them to go to a website?  Why can't they convert directly from the blog.  Here at Compendium Blogware, we have many clients that don't have websites in the traditional sense.
