Business Blogging Targets the web-geriatrics: those over 30

Wednesday, March 18, 2009 by Chris Baggott

Check this out.   The Internet is aging quickly.  In a new report by eMarketer, they point out the fact that not only is the age of people online skewiing older, but thier activities are quite different than most of what you are hearing from the popular media.

"What sets older Americans apart is their online activities. Older Americans aren’t as likely as younger users to play games, watch movies, use social networking sites......"

The over 30 set spend the majority of thier online time with search and email.   These are also the folks with all the money.  They travel, consume health care, buy big ticket things and are responisble for important projects at work.  For most businesses, this is the ideal audience.

Business Blogging is the best way for organizations to leverage their content and expertise in a Customer Acquisition Strategy.   We call it Blogging for Search and of course it's ideal to target the fastest growing online group...and a group that is sick of advertising and experts at search.

To those of us uneducated in blogging, what does SEO stand for. I'm trying to be one of those "geriatrics" (!?!?!) you described in your article. Hahaha.

LOL SEO stands for Search Engine Optimization...basically the activities the lead to your web properties showing up in the organic results of a search engine for targeted keywords & phrases.
