Blogging for search

Monday, November 17, 2008 by Chris Baggott
I had a conversation the other day about Attorney Marketing.  Do people really go online to find a lawyer?

Just like any business marketing, Agricultural Marketing, Tourism Marketing, Non-profit marketing, even University Marketing...all benefit from easy to use blogging software with a goal of Search Engine Optimization.

Up to 80% of all web interactions begin with a search.  People can learn more about a law firm or any organization in 5 minutes online than any directory or yellow pages.   All marketing is Success Marketing...meaning you do the activity that drives the most success.   Lawyers:  Websites alone are not enough for successful web marketing....start a business blog.

I get you point about marketing and the importance of blogging. Is this the average size of your blog posts. Mine seem sto be more like an article which is why they are few and far between.

Doug and I discuss this a lot. Most bloggers get discouraged because the burden to 'frequency' is too much. The reality is that they are trying to say too much per post. I like to keep to 100-150 words. The other hang up is that it's ok to say the same things over and over again. Not the same words, but the same concepts. I wrote a book on Email Marketing. The publisher wanted 75,000 words. I had about 275,000 in my email blog so I thought "this is going to be a piece of cake' The reality is that I had enough for about three chapters because I talked about the same things over and over again :-) Thats ok.
